Hey everyone, its Lindsey Victoria here from A Life Well-Balanced.

Thank you guys so much for joining me. Today, I wanted to do a quick episode about my favorite dairy alternatives because I just did an interview with Vegan Chef Nathi Toro and we were talking about why people would want to switch to a plant-based diet. I found that using dairy alternatives is a great way to start transitioning into plant-based, aside from cutting out meat.

There are many alternatives on the market today. I’m just going to show you a few of my favorites.

1. Butter Alternative

For butter, I highly recommend Earth Balance. It’s completely vegan, non-GMO and soy free. They have a bunch of different variations. I’m particularly using this one with olive oil but it’s like a buttery spread. You can use it just as you would butter, but it’s completely powered by plants, and no soy which I like about that. This one I highly recommend if you’re looking for a butter alternative.

2. Cheese Alternative

On to cheese because a lot of people like cheese and I know that’s one of the struggles when people are trying to go plant-based.

I found this brand Vegan Chao Slices and what I love about them is that it’s made from coconut oil. There’s a little more fat in them so you need to understand your own diet and what your body can handle.

They taste delicious and I’ve been giving them out to my friends. Normally the dairy cheese alternatives aren’t that great, so this one I find really good.

I find this one at Publix in South Florida, and I think they’re at Whole Foods and Fresh Market too.

3. Cream cheese style spread

Kite Hill make an amazing cream cheese style spread that actually tastes like cream cheese. It’s made from almond milk so that’s another thing that I really like about the kite Hill brand.

They also make almond milk yogurt.

4. Coconut Milk

Obviously, there’s a ton of coconut milks on the market. I try to avoid soy so that’s why I prefer coconut milk. But try to go for the unsweetened variety.

Too much sugar is obviously, never good. We don’t want to have crappy plant-based diets. Go for the So Delicious Coconut Milk.

Another one I like is Ripple. They make a very good milk alternative.

We’re moving into a generation with so many alternatives on the market.

If you decide that you want to try a plant-based diet, but were worried about cutting out milk, cheese or butter, remember that there are alternatives on the market.

You can find these dairy alternatives at:

  • Main grocery stores – Publix, Food Lion, Walmart, etc
  • Specialty grocery stores – Fresh Market, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, etc
  • Amazon Fresh
